How cold is it there? Wouldn't surprise me if it was shipped up with summer diesel in it and then it gelled. I've seen that happen before.

It's cold enough, but icing is not the issue. The dealer has tried all the obvious things to get them running. These 2 tractors are just flat out dead, turn the key on and nothing, no sound, no lights, nothing. It must be electrical or computer of some sort??

I'll give to John Deere, that's good service to replace them like that!!

Cant say I am familiar with the model, but it certainly sounds electrical. I would think a competent mechanic could have if figured out in no time.

No lights, no clicks, no nothing rules out the majority of electrical issues like all the safetys. Sounds like it isnt getting juice to the key switch (or past the keyswitch). Not much between the key and battery. Again, A DVOM and a few minutes (especially for someone familiar with the tractor).

Frankly I am surprised the dealer was so quick to give up 2 new tractors rather than fixing the first.

I took delivery of my 3039R on the 24th of December. It started and ran great for about a week and then it began having random electrical issues when I tried starting it. The dealer sent a mechanic out to check it out and he found a loose starter relay. It started right up after he pushed it in but unfortunately a few days later it wouldn't start at all. Another call, another trip out and this time they replaced the starter switch. It turns out that John Deere changed suppliers for some of their starter switches and a bunch of them were defective. It starts every time now.

BS?? Really?? I'm simply asking a question about a JD Tractor. The Dealer has been great, and doing the right thing by replacing a faulty tractor. Obviously there is some sort of issue with the 3039R series, just wondering if anyone else has heard of it.

I find it hard to believe that the dealer will just give out new tractors instead of fixing the problem. You do realize that the delivered tractors are now considered to be "used" since they were sold and registered?

Very interesting. I was close to buying a 3039r last week, but a much more attractively priced 3520 (older brother to 3039r) popped up as a trade at my dealer that fit my budget better so I went with that. That said, he said not many issues with the new R series, and I still like them. Odd the dealer is not finding the problem and just updating the tractor- I'd think that's a tough resell issue? Keeping my eye on the R series as I'd like one some day, and a family member wants on soon.
