OK, I had a string of crazy events happen last Saturday while mowing in my pasture... my daughter pulled in and I turned off the tractor and walked 50 feet to the gate to meet her and during that time one of my horses went to the tractor, grabbed the keyfob and snapped off the ignition key. of course i had no spare. while i am rounding up a key, over the course of the next 2 days, the horses demolished my already famously cracked plastic hood, bit my seat in half and some sort of critter (skunk, possum, squirrel, rat) managed to SHRED my wiring harness roughly under where my left foot would be while driving the tractor. 16-18 wires, completely torn in half.
OUCH. I have the service manual and wiring schematics etc and have spent some hours under the tractor identifying and splicing wires and while i am close, I have not completely reconnected and tested everything.

When i turn the key on, it lights up the dashboard and I'm pretty sure it has come down to the mid-pto sensor that was yanked completely out of the socket at the sensor and unplugged at the other end of the mini-harness (that connects under the seat frame)

Well I'm having a big shindig and the wife says put it in the barn.
if i turn on the key, and make sure it's in neutral, shouldn't I be able to jump the solenoid and get it started?

I believe all the severed/disconnected wires are safety system (seat, rear pto, mid pto, neutral) and lighting. Seems like it should run if i jump the solenoid. ??? Anyone disagree with that?

Sorry to hear about this "shambles".

I can't attest to aggreement or disagreement with what you are planning to do.

Might as well try it, as you don't want to feed any more of your tractor to the horses.

Should run without the mid-PTO connector, if the PTO is disengaged. Mine has been torn off my 4300 for many years now.

The horses were the ones that chewed the wiring out too, lol.

IIRC, you will need to also provide power to the fuel solenoid to get it to open. Once it is open you should be able to jump the starter solenoid (carefully!) to get it started. Drive it to where you want it, then pull power from the fuel solenoid to shut the tractor off.

I think I'd tow it, if possible...

Boy, you've got some hungry horses!

Put it in neutral and tow it. If you power up the key, it may fry something else. I would not start it until all repairs are finished.
