JD 4030 Diesel problem

I was plowing Sunday evening and the tractor started losing power. I thought it may be a clogged fuel filter so changed it out last night, bled the lines and fired her up. It still did not have power under a load and then started to shut off as soon as I let the clutch out. I messed with it some more and it gradually got worse. Now It will start but then shut off.


Any ideas out there?

Is there a fuel shut-off solonoid that may be giving out?

But would check a service manual and then be sure the air is bled out of the lines (maybe try that again).

Sure sounds like something in the fuel supply lines or still some air in the system. Is the primary fuel pump pushing fuel to the injection pump adequately? Do you have good clean flow from the tank to the primary pump? Ken Sweet

The fuel pump has a hand lever that is used to fill the filter and bleed off any air after changing the filter. It pumped fuel by had just fine so I initially thought it was ok. I have not tried disconecting an out going line and then cranking. I will try that next.

The fuel going into the new filter looked good so I think the fuel is clean.
