Any 4010 owners out there that can share their comments on the power of this new JD?

I don't have a 4010, but do have an 18HP Compact. My TC18 is physically larger. In the 60 hours so far I haven't run out of power yet. I mow with a 60"MMM and use the FEL & rear blade.

If you are going to be tilling or using a rotary cutter to cut brush, you may want the additional HP of the 4110 or 4115. Also, the 4010 has reduced 3pt hitch lift capacity compared to the slightly larger models.

I just got my 4110 and with only a few hours on it (most lifting and leveling manure pile) I have not had a problem with power. My suggestion would be to go with the 4110 if you can.

I have had my 4010 for about 2 months and have 25 hours on it. It has a FEL 60" MMM and Imatch with ballast box. I think the tractor has adequate power for the size. It has enough power to fill the bucket and the MMM has never bogged down on me yet. Generally the tires start spinning before I can get the bucket really full. I really have no complaints. If it had more power I might do something that would get me in trouble. Oh I do have a beef with the 4010 in general. The rockshaft lever that controls the 3 pt does not have a range control. It is either on or off. I ordered an extra kit that would hold the mower deck at a certain height even if the 3 pt is lowered all of the way. It cost $90.

The dealer told me that the rockshaft lever could be adjusted at different height if you put the adjustable stop knob in it. I am having a hard time getting much info from the dealer, they were going to get back with me with some names of people who bought the 4010 so I could talk to them. Haen't heard anything back yet.
What kind of price to you get your 4010 for? Did you look at the Kubota's at all?

Thanks,
Glen

The JD 4010 doesn't have a position control for the 3 point hitch, it's strictly a lift/lower affair. Move the lever one way to raise it, the other way to lower. Soon as your release the control lever, the hitch should stop an remain in that position till again you move the lever..

It's a antiquated design, but it's been used for many years on tractor an works well once you get used to it. What it comes down to is it saved Deere a few bucks.. ..

I don't know of anyway a stop knob on the control lever would work with a lift/lower only system. The only adjustable stops I know would go on the cylinder itself. It's a collar that you clamp on the ram ( shinny part of the cylinder that slides in an out) this can be set anywhere along it's length. As the ram retracts into the cylinder the collar will hit a button/lever on the cylinder an stop it. On the older tractors this works only when lowering...

Deere may have another way of doing it but this is the way it's done on many older tractors.

I am sure he is thinking of last years model that had the stop knob. My Brother-in-law has a 4100 with the knob and I can assure you they are quite different.

I have had my 4100 for almost a year and have done some difficult work clearing land from bush and trees. It has done fine and for the most part Im very happy with the horse power. Bill
