JD 2520 w/jd655 tiller

Does anyone have this setup a JD2520 with a jd655 tiller. I am about to get the 655 and want to hear from some that have this setup so I will be sure this is the right setup or should I go with the jd647. I measured the rear R4's tread and it is 49 inches wide so the 647 should cove all but one inch on each side. I would prefer the 655 as long as it isn't to much for the 2520. Don't want to regret the purchase I have decide on the Green just not sure which one of the two. Thanks

Don't have that set up but the Deere website says the 655 tiller is recommended for the 2520.

John Deere lists the 655 tiller as compatible with the 2520. My neighbor tried to use a 60" JD 660 tiller with his 2520.

It worked... but not very well and was a real grunt for his machine!

Much depends upon the conditions that you're planning to use the tiller in. Soil types, vegetation types, etc.

I could imagine using the larger tiller in heavy sod or heavy clay soil conditions would be very taxing for your tractor and not likely something you would like to do very often...

In those circumstances, the 48" JD647 might be a better choice.

Hi,

I have both, 2520 and a 655, mine has no problem running it. It is a lot better with loaded rear tires and a set of weights as without the added weight there, the tiller does have a tendency to push the tractor around. That's the common theme with the 2520 and I suspect the 2720, too much HP and not enough weight/traction to put it to the ground, but that's another story. The 2520 makes more than enough on the PTO to run the 655 in any soil I have here.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered the JD655 will be picking it up Friday and will post a review when I use it. We still have snow on the ground so might be awhile but have to be ready.lol
