Is the Mahindra Max really a SCUT

A rose by any other name. We all benefit by having choice and competition.

It is kinda funny they quit calling it a SCUT.

Even on their competitive comparision, they arent comparing it to SCUTS. Rather the L3200, TC30, and deere 3005.

Still not right IMO. They should be comparing it to a B, 2x20, etc.

And I find this funny, deceiving, and a down right lie.

The Max 28 can do everything a compact tractor can do and more and is the only tractor of its size, power, dimensions and capability in the market.

No argument that choice and competition are good, but that doesn't mean their name makes sense.

Mid-CUT = Middle CUT. The Max might be the biggest SCUT, or the smallest CUT, but it's not in the middle of the CUT range....that would be about 40hp, and 4K lbs.

While some may argue the point about size classification I think it is good to have this in between size available. I personally don't need it but others might and at least it is an available alternative. If if fits your needs I wouldn't worry about which size it is.

Pretty much says it.

Mahindra is deceiving people by calling it a SCUT. People will compare the loader and 3PH lift capacity to a BX or 1 series. They will see that the Max lifts more and they are sold.

Actually, Mahindra is starting to use the term "Mid-CUT". Their Max line is closer in size and performance to the smaller Kubota B models than the BX's (and the same thing with several other brands). Maybe they figure some buyers won't notice that other brands offer comparable size models.

That is just the Max28. They are calling a mid cut and comparing to a l3200.

You may well be right and sometimes a little knowledge is more dangerous than none. When I bought my first SCUT in 2003, comng from a farming background, I didn't know what a SCUT really was, I just went to the dealer, crawled around on a few and bought the one that fit my needs.

I have never heard a salesman at Kubota or John Deere use the terms SCUT/CUT/UT etc. I think sometimes in their eagerness to learn, new buyers get too hung up on terms and classes that are often meaningless and I'm not sure some of us more experienced owners/operator don't contribute to the confusion. It is easy for you and I to discuss pros/cons using a common language with all the appropriate shortcut terms, but I fear oftentimes we just confuse those new to these types of machines.

I personally don't care what a manufacture calls it tractor. My pocketbook is and has always been the deciding factor in tractor purchases. I compare brand name units, features, options, service etc. I then purchase the brand name that gives me the most bang for my dollars.

If green offers more features at or near the same price as orange, then I buy green. The same for orange. If I was in the market today for a tractor in the BX, 1026R, 1017 and Max size, class and category, I would sit on all four visit the dealers listen to their BS and sales pitch, then compare standard features, three point lift,(position, quarter inch or other) loader lift capacity, backhoe breakout if I want a backhoe and a mid mount mower and then buy the unit that gave me the most bang for my bucks. I think my pocketbook would object to my buying a tractor simply because it was a certain color, had less standard features than another color, lifted less with the loader and three point.

That's how I went about buying mine. Did not know about the word CUT till someone on here used the word.

Any tractor with rear tires larger than 26 X 12 - 12 is not a SCUT. Any SCUT without position control on the three point hitch is not a tractor.

Does that make the 1023e a garden tractor. It doesn't have position control and it has a limited cat 1 hitch.

Hey '94. Could you compare the 2516 and MAX28 for us.

The 2516 is not a current tractor. I was trying to use only information from the manufactures website. I'll see what I can find.

Where does JD list the length and width for the 1026r? I did not see it on their site.

I am going to make a chart comparing the Max 25 to the JD 2520, Kubota B2620, MF 1526. I porbably should add the Kioit CS2410.
