I'm guessing that LG (Montana) is a realitively new kid on the block in the US?

I'm sure that Maka or one of the others in here who have exact knowledge will be able to come much closer to the date that LG Montana came into the US market, but it's my understanding that it was in, or around, the summer of 2004.

I may be a little off there, but I'm sure glad they came in, period. I've got an LG Montana 5740C with a FEL I and think it's a very fine machine, at a very good price, compared to other brands!!

No, not a well known brand. neither was kubota in the 60s

The onslaught of todays flavor of the month tractors is reminiscent of the post WW1 era when every machine shop built and marketed a tractor that was gonna launch every farmer into the modern ages of agriculture. Most of those manufacturers did not make it.

The difference is that LG has 130,000 employess worldwide, 92 billion in annual revenue and 300 offices and subsidaries globally and are more like Kubota as they design and manufacture their own tractors. Some components are sub but they are the manufacturer of their tractors.

LG Agricultural

LG is a widely recgonized brand in the U.S. with many products like electronics, appliances etc.

Their tractors have actually been here for many years as they manufacture all of Long/Farmtrac compacts, some TAFE compact tractors, All Montanas compacts and utilities (open & cab) Long and Tafe do not have the utility tractors as their are only for Montana. They are the Neo series of the LG line and are excellent machines.

I would liken the LG to say Yanmar. Here in the U.S. under the Deere and McCormick name in tractors but they sell their marine diesel engines (top of the line) through their dealer network here.

LG is a known brand here for many products but their tractors are less known and not because they are new here but more because they are sold here under different names.

I hope this helps and I have to say that they in my very biased opinion that they are one of the best available tractors as they are feature rich, very well built and very affordable, relatively speaking.

I am only trying to provide factual informationa about LG and not trying to start a war.

Thanks,
Maka

Hello 8Buzz8. Yes, the Montana is a relatively new brand made by LG but the LG manufactured tractors have been here for many years now. See the post in this thread above with some of that info.

Thanks,
Maka

Lucky Goldstar (LG) is a $73 billion company. It's amazing how many things they have there hands into...

Yes Labrat. Most people don't realize that LG originally was Lucky Goldstar and then they became known for the LG slogan Life's Good. They are actually almost a 100 billion dollar company now.

Here in the U.S. they are not only recgonized for the LG brand of cell phones, flat tron display, hard drives, appliances etc. LG products at electronics stores

but they also hold 47% of the U.S. air con market for window units of air conditioners and many other products.

Thanks,
Maka

I just checked out Montana's website for the first time in a while. It has improved quite a bit. I'm impressed! I was also impressed with the wide variety of attachements in their attachments section. Looks like we have a new kid on the block that's here to stay. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm confused about the link with Long - aren't some of the FarmTrac's mfg in India by Escorts Tractor (the ones that look like older Fords)? It appears they had FarmTrac, LandTrac, and LongTrac, and have now consolodated under the FarmTrac brand? The LGs look like nice units - I would have checked them out when I was shopping had they been nore commonly available.

The "utility" tractors (old Fords) are made by Escorts in India. The "compact" tractors are made by LG and some models are the exact same as some Montanas. They consolidated last year under the Farmtrac brand name, as having three names under one roof was confusing to customers.
