International cub cadet 782 crankshaft

I am having my International cub cadet 782 rebuilt and need to find a new/used crankshaft. I am unable to find any model/serial # on the motor. Can anybody point me in the right direction. Also what a lawnmower like this would sell for.

You could have the crankshaft reground.

If that's the original engine, crank kit (from Cub Cadet) is pricey. Parts and labor (if you have it done @ a dealer) is almost what a new replacement engine would cost. BTDT with dads 682... (Same tractor w/o hydraulic lift on mower deck) Original engine w/o oil pump and filter isn't worth the cost to rebuild IMHO, unless it's strictly for collector purposes. I'd look for a new/good used series II or III Koehler to put in it's place.

782's are very much collectible. Some sell quite high. Most sell in the $1500 range from what I've seen 1st hand. Dads 682 brought $800 with engine in a box.

Check around your area for any antique tractor/ engine collector clubs. Most of these guys are more than glad to help and likely one of them will have a suitable engine stashed away. Also, you might have success with a wanted add on Craigslist.:thumbsup:

Can anybody tell me where the serial# is located on the kt17 motor, it doesn't seem to be jumping out at me. It is very critical in order to did the correct crankshaft

It's supposed to be on a tag, on the 'engine shrouding'

Could someone possibly take a picture or specificly describe where this identification tag is on a KT17 on a IH Cub.

Or if someone has a International Cub Cadet 782 with a Kohler 17 horse Series II could you post your Engine Modle nember, so I have something to reference when looking for parts.

I hope I have posted the service manual for the KT-17. I believe the pertinent info (serial etc.) is on a removalble tag which sometimes removes by itself.

My identification tags seem to be missing off the motor and I need to find a crankshaft asap, can someone with a international cub cadet 782 that has the series II KT-17 motor post their engine ID #'s so I will have something to reference when looking for part. Your help is greatly appreciated. My lawnmower is stung apart all over my buddy's garage and he threatening to box all the parts up and quit on the project
