I just ordered a 3 pt hitch for my x495. Has anyone ever installed one on their machine? My dealer says that I shouldn't have any trouble.

Did you get the Cat I or the Cat 0 version? If I ever actually replace my 318 with new - it will probably be an X4-something. The more I look at them the more I like them. I just noticed the other day that there were both hitch size choices available and was kind of pondering which I'd rather have on that size garden tractor.

Cat 1 is more popular, there are more things available for it.

There are - but the Cat I hitch on the X-series is not strictly a standard Cat I anyway - and the draft arms are a little oddly shaped to get to the 27 inch width. A lot of 'Cat I' stuff I've seen in sizes that an X-series could handle are actually Cat 0 with Cat I pins (meaning the 3/4" pins are spaced only 20 inches wide). Some of the Woods "Estate Series" stuff comes to mind.

I got the limited cat 1 series. I have a JD650 diesel that has a PTO and a 'regular' cat 1 three point hitch. The JD650 came with the three point hitch already installed. I was just wondering if anyone had actually installed a 3 point hitch themselves?
I like my x495. It has AWS and so far haven't had any trouble with it. I've read on other forums, that the AWS is stable and haven't found anyone with any trouble with it. Mine is a diesel, and I wouldn't go back to gas powered. I did put on a anti-blowout kit on the mower and that has cut down on a lot of clippings being blowed everywhere.

I am expecting delivery of my X495 diesel tractor in two weeks. I noticed that you put a anti-grass blowout on the mowing deck - what does this do?, and is this a deere or after market product?

Also, are there any other attachments you would recommend. I am getting the quick attach snow blade, and 3 bushel carrier. I also am really impressed with the aws, and the diesel.

Thanks -- Biggie

It's a Deere kit, that helps keep the grass directed out the discharge chute. It is #AM133765 for the 54" deck.

Works great, although my Deere dealer today said not many have that as a complaint. Maybe I am just too fussy.

Is there anything you wish you would have gotten for your tractor, or have done differently on your x495?

How do you like the diesel?

I wouldn't be without the AWS, but other than that, I don't miss anything, including the 4wd.

On the anti-blowout kit, after I installed it, I've mowed a couple of times, and I went from the side screens to being almost covered with grass clippings, to about 3 or 4 blades of grass on the screens.
I have alot of rocks on my property, and I'm going to get a 48 inchbox blade to help me loosen the rocks up, and help me make a 'rock' pile. (too bad I don't have any teenagers to help with this one).
