2005 Case DX35
My 2004 Case DX35 was running just fine, but I had a little fuel leak in the injector pump. So I pulled the pump and injectors. I am waiting for the return of my injectors and a new injection pump from the shop, Precision Fuel Injection in Honolulu. My old pump they say had a bent part, so they are sending a brand new OEM pump. I have the Case Shop Manual which says if the pump is being replaced, need to check and adjust the timing.

The pump runs off cams that are on the engine camshaft.

The manual says to pull the whole rocker arm assembly off, remove the valve keeper and drop an intake valve onto the piston - just to check to see if the TDC mark on the crank pulley is accurate. Do I really need to do this??? Seems like a lot to do to check the accuracy of a mark that I've never seen move in any engines I've messed with. I may try to check TDC by sticking something in the injector hole, especially if I can get a dial indicator on it.

The manual says to spill time the engine by removing two penta head bolts on the #1 cylinder delivery valve and disassembling the delivery valve - on my brand new pump! Do I really need to do this?

Then to adjust, I need shim plates, which I don't have, and I doubt will come with the new pump, as the shop owner said I shouldn't have to make any adjustments, just bolt the pump on and go.

Any advice? Just put the pump on and try it before doing all this disassembly?

I agree with you, the TDC should never change for that engine, unless a timing chain slips. So if you think current engine timing and TDC are still at factory specs, just replace the new pump and adjust as required. Obviously the replacement pump will need to be carefully synchronized with TDC timing mark for optimal engine performance.
