Hehehe... All beds and trees should have safety interlocks now. I don't really know what should be interlocked, but they should be there.

Come to think of it.. a significant number of deaths occur in bed... maybe they should be outlawed completely. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was out mowing lawn earlier this afternoon, and made a pass under some hickory trees. I mowed a few hundred feet, turned around and went back to the hickory trees to find a large limb laying on the ground where I had just mown.
I've thought about tree limbs falling (I mow about 4 acres under about a hundered trees) on me, but am sure thankful this one didn't conk me on the head (or scratch the paint on my mower). Maybe I should wear a hard hat. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sorry to hear about the guy trapped in his bed. Not a pleasant thought.

I've got a friend that has a sizable branch hanging from a fir tree.

I noticed it during a windstorm and when I pointed it out, he quickly moved his truck. That was 6 weeks ago and everytime I go over, it's still hanging there. No more than 15' off the ground, very accessable. I keep telling him it's gonna hurt when it falls on his head but now I'm thinking it wont /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.

When I was living in my travel trailer ( and still drinking) I came home one night and got into bed just as the wind came up. I was about half asleep when a 3 or 4 inch branch came straight down through the roof, pivoted and swung up and broke on the cabinet. Chunks of rotton wood went everywhere. I have pretty quick reflexes, I had my .38 out and pointed at the ceiling without even noticing that I had done it. That was like no other experience I had ever gone through, I guess I though something was coming to get me! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Then came the turd floater so I had to stick a pot on the bed and sleep on the front room floor. It was a bad night all the way around. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

( Ohmygosh! Talk about a bad surprise. This poor guy got taken out by a large tree limb while sleeping, and there wasn't even any storms or winds! If you have any large limbs over your house, you may want to trim them. )

Talk about ohmygosh! I read your post title and checked my pulse quickly to see if I was still alive. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Then I noticed the space and the caps and realized what this was about. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Whew! That's a pretty close call for a guy named Inman like me. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's the first thing I thought of Jim when I read it. Then I realized Indiana you idiot not Inman. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Awful thing to here happen. How can you even start to recover mentally from a freak accident such as that? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

"I have always had issues with trees and insurance companies. If a tree goes unhealthy and starts dropping limbs, why doesn't insurance cover the removal."

It's an insurance policy not a home maintenance policy.

( Perhaps the word unhealthly is not appropriate - The tree was hit by a utility company vehicle. It started leaning in a storm, acts beyond the homeowner, but influenced by God and others.

)

If it was hit by a utility company vehicle, then they are responsible for the removal or repair of the tree. Not the insurance company, unless it is there insurance company. Why don't you go after the Utility company???

Right but I don't mind tipping the odds in my favor, and have no interest in speeding up the process .
