Natural and saturated fats are not necessarily bad for you; just another form of energy with the bonus of not spiking your insulin levels.

Your body produces about 85% of the total cholesterol in your blood. Your body uses cholesterol in the manufacturing of new cells, so cholesterol is needed.

I have my C-reactive protein checked when I have my bloodwork done, usually once every 8 months or so. That test will show how much inflammation you have going on in your body which, coupled with high LDL and high triglycerides, is cause for concern. High cholesterol with low CRP and low triglycerides is not necessarily a cause for concern.

Drug manufacturers make a lot of money on statin, or cholesterol lowering, drugs.

Ancel Keys, the doctor who came up with the whole low fat/high carb diet craze, has turned this country into a bunch of overweight diabetics.

I am 80 years old, take a statin, weigh 188 lbs. am 6' tall, and am not a diabetic!
I eat whatever I want, but to me, the leanest meat possible is what makes sense.

.

Not off of me now that it is generic. I pay $0 per month for my statin. Plan pays a nominal fee.

It's funny, despite all of the talk about cost of running freezers I've never seen much of a difference. My power bill runs around 25-35 $/month whether I have one, two, or neither of my freezers operating. (It's been a couple of years since that last has happened though. ;)) I also don't open them very often; I will take what I need for the week from the upright and put it in the top freezer of my refrigerator. Every few weeks I refill the upright from my chest freezer, which is down in a shed. By not opening them very often, they don't run as much. I also keep them full, as previously mentioned. Summer is when they start getting empty, and a few gallons of ice is always handy for camping.

I wish I had that problem.....mine loves it.

Roll in cornmeal/salt/pepper/paprika/little cayenne pepper, and of course, fried in home rendered lard..mmmmmmmmm

Those in the photo aren't being fed.....they are merely responding to a call to jump in my net. :D

I figured out what was going on with my Acurite monitors. Even though I paired both of the sets the per the instructions, one of the transmitters is weak and when side to side with the other Acurite (storage freezers and fridge are all in the garage), the second display unit would lock onto one of the other units transmitters. So I bagged the bad set that had a weak transmitter and am now only monitoring the two freezers. So far so good and I adjusted my freezer settings to split around 0 degF. One was a little high which I did not know. The next thing is to move the display into the house where it will be noticed better. Small numbers are high cut in and low cut out actual temperature readings.

Ribeye . . .

Me too. A Prime bone-in ribeye; 1 and 1/2 thick; cooked to a medium rare on my Weber with a dash of Montreal stake seasoning....mmm, mmm good! Some fried okra and a tad of braised & buttered mushrooms!
