... you might want to check out their Engine Oil product.

Engine Oil Stop Leak

It's maybe been around a while, but I only came across it lately..... picked up a bottle today to use as top up oil on a couple of recent oil changes.

I've had decent results with their PS product, dealing with seeping seals, so wanted to try their Engine oil product. TDS also lists Hydrostatic applications for this.

most of the sealers contain xylene .. it softens and swells seals ....

best not to use it if your machines are not leaking/weeping .... the seals will eventually fail if you use too much.

mainly used to extend the life of older units , but eventually they will need the rebuild / seal change ...
the down side is that now all the seals need changing instead of just the one .

Agreed, it's not for new engines.

Like any "medicine" :) , it should only be used for the right reasons, and at recommended (or lower, as in my case) dosages.

I don't like Forrest Lucas so he gets none of my money.

"Snake oil" salesman, as far as I am concerned.

I don't know the man, just know the results I've had.

But, I hear you.... not the first time I've seen a decent product derailed by an objectionable leader's personality.

The stuff is for limping a crippled machine back to the shop. Or to keep an old clunk running for a couple more months.

I've got no interest in "converting" anybody (to anything, let alone an oil product). :)

I titled the thread the way I did.... in part because I'm far too lazy to preach to anybody, except the choir !

Ok .. as a stop gap measure , it works very well ... ( no arguments here ) :)

can it be used to get a bit more life out of a machine ... yup .

will it "cure" the actual problem ... nope

it has its place and use , just don't rely on it to last forever ...

Ditto what jaotguy said. Ok as temporary fix until you can fix it right. I've used Lucas products for many years. What I've found is; the fuel treatment is pretty good at cleaning injectors (both gas and diesel) and fighting water problems associated with ethanol fuels. However, on gas engines, you'll see your fuel treatment again on your fouled spark plugs. (it's the light brown powdery-looking gunk)
The oil stabilizer helps oil stick to the parts to help prevent metal/metal contact, but in the near future you'll see it again when you finally tear down the engine because of a main or rod bearing failure. (it will be in the form of 'tar' blocking the oil passages that feed oil to the bearings you're trying to protect)
Not trying to knock anybody's products, they pretty much work as advertised but are a short term fix.

My personal rule of thumb is this; when you need to use this kind of product (any brand, not just Lucas), it's time to start thinking about trading in, selling, or planning for the upcoming rebuild. Happy motoring.:)
