If the tail light burns out, trade it in....

I know what you mean. Our 1989 Suburban has a 196K miles on it and rather than trade it for a new one I just put $2500 into a new (Jasper rebuilt) trans. We just got back from Colorado and put over 2500 miles on it and didn't have any problems. The new ones have more features, but they are also impossible to work on for a "shade tree mechanic". My 1978 Jeep is also a breeze to work on. Vehicles are not made to work on anymore, they're made to be most easily and cheaply manufactured and that's it.

Welcome back Danny - Haven't "heard" you around in a while.

Thanks Steve. I've had an unusual summer. I got laid off and have been busy enjoying the extra time with the kids, going on extended family vacations (when I get back to work I won't have time for that kind of stuff, so might as well do it now!), and, of course, looking for a new job. I've also been spending more time on the tractor getting projects done that I didn't have time for when I was working and won't have time for when I get back to work. I hate accessing the internet via my slow (28k) dial up connection at home (I got spoiled using the high speed connection at work), so I don't get on much.
