ont he job had a woopsie. one of the guys had a 'insuficient space' error with a payloader and the front end of one of our 6.0psd's

it's coming in onthe flatbed later. so far from what i hear, front clip and hood +rad and fan are likely involved.. ie.. bumper.. HL assys.. grill, rad, shroud.

i don't know what, if any of the top side frames are involved. i did not hear of any steering member involvement.

hood is involved. i need to see if the engine got encroached from the fan.. and if anny accy's or mounts got damaged.. including shrouds and whatnot.

now.. here's my question.

we all know the 6.0's had some infant mortality issues :) what's the chances that there are some ford 250's in junkyards with junk engines and intact front ends? i mena.. heads blowing oof shouldn't hurt the front right ;) :)

i just now got the call and am investigating costs.

IIRC that fan and rad could be in the 900$ range by themselves ugh.. :)

i will post pics.

just got the truck at the office.

worse than i feared.

pushed rad back popped turbo up and down tube off and ripped rubbers.. ripped lines off ac condensor.. damage was 'centered more on passanger side front and middle.. for instance.. driver front quater panel not touched.. passanger front quarter first 3" dented in.. cross piece folded 'frame' member that has the belt routing lable on it is bent and ripped a lil and pushed back seperating nose clip at grill and passanger headlamp by a couple inches. last lil bit of front frame coming forward looks toe'd in towards center a bit..

shroud is pressed back far enough that it is twisting serpentine belt. can't see under alt to see if engine block is being impinged.. for sure made 0 clearance between engine and rad .. fan is mingled betwixt the 2.. can guess water pump ate it...passanger side battery un damaged though position has changed and inner most corner aims in at 30' the black struct cover behind it ? is touching battery pretty snuggly..

rad top tank popped as well as tranny cooler and of course the mentioned aluminum ac lines and whatnot right there in passanger mid back is crushed and ripped apart .. made a mess of refridgerant everywhere.

on another note. i see this 04 psd has a hood pad.. :) my 04 doesn't..

doesn't look like it would fit my 99 7.3 which is needing a hood pad...though.. but then i didn't measure it.. (closely ) :)

weird...

With the frame involvement its probably a total.

That hood pad should be the same. They did not redesign the hood from 99 to 05.

Going to be able to salvage it for yourself or did you manage to make your old one liveable again?
That O ring deal sounds like something I better keep an eye on when spring rolls around and I service my 7.3 PSD bucket truck for the new season.

i still have the old pad soaking in detergent.

gonna hose it off tomorrow and let it hang.. will see.

if it's a loss.. no biggie.

I might be able to snarf the one from the wreck at work.. or.. run sans pad.

yes. DO pay attention to that filter.

i ended up using large channel locks opened to use the jaws as 2 prongs in the triangualr pieces ont he cap to tighten it. the lil 1/2" drive for a ratchet is a JOKE.. someone should be sued over that.
