Kubota M7040 4WD
The 4WD indicator and the park brake are the ones I'm aware of. My dealer just told me that my serial number tractor,A6041, does not include having these wired. Anyone else run into this?

You might do a 7040 search on this forum, there have been past threads on the control pannel as well as the SN above & below of what does what.My model (bought last Nov.) does not have those functions either....the parking brake would be really handy). Looking back, I might have considered the 8540 just for the transmission ebrake, but quite a price differential. All in all, an excellent tractor, just be sure the brake is fully engaged before stepping off, and release it!!!! easy to forget w/o the dash indication good luck bb

That sounds downright odd!

Your tractor manual should have a layout of the instruments. If it shows the 4WD and Parking Brake indicator lamps, they should be wired (unless those lamps are marked optional).
Unfortunately, the Kubota website does not link the tractor manuals.

Keep us posted on what you find! As I wrote, I find those lamps being optional exceedingly odd.

This thread on "IMPORTANT INFORMATION. . ." should address your concern exactly and maybe even create some new concerns!!;)

Yes it should raise some concerns. I'm still waiting for the Kubota rep to resolve my issue. If it does not happen soon, I'm going to dump the 7040 and look towards JD for help!

Yes the early models does not have these lights hooked up. There was a production change made by Kubota to include these on later models but they are not offering to backfit it to the earlier models that did not have it. So you can still install it by having the dealer order the parts but it will be at your own expense. Does not seem fair to me but on the other hand it is not that big a deal to me anyway. I like the tractor and have over 200 hours on it now.

I agree...if my dash were defective, I'd be PO'd, but everything works as it should, and the 7040 is a dream....I would not look forward to spending the extra $ on a JD just for the lack of a few led's when you can glance down Re: the 4wd/ebreak. The new direct inj. engine more than makes up for it...is the JD engine on the same level? good luck bb

My dealer had ordered the wire harness before he found the Kubota Service bulletin which basically says it was not included on early production M7040"s. He showed it to me and basically said "I feel your pain". he was sympathetic but obviously was not going to foot the bill himself since it wasn't the dealers fault. ..and I echo the opinion re: the JD loyalists. My Kubota will pull a brick house off its foundation and has never let me down. This advisory light snafu is hardly grounds for tipping the scale away from Kubota - it's just a minor annoyance. I do believe Kubota should show good customer relations and pay for a retrofit, however. I work for Toyota and they sure would.

Don't get me wrong, I like my M7040, but when you get "jacked around" and ignored by the Kubota rep like I have, my loyalty only goes so far. I have purchased four new tractors from Kubota in the last five years for my business. If the Kubota rep continues to ignore me and jack me around, I WILL take my business to another tractor company, most likely JD.

When you spend over $100,000.00 in new equipment purchases from Kubota alone and get treated by the rep like I have, then it's time to go. I have a business to run. This is not a hobby for me. I don't have the time or patience to play around with the Kubota rep.
