I need to pull the trigger on buying an auger + attachment for my Kubota M59 as soon as possible... please help me make the choice on which way to go :D

My plan is to have it with quick-attach for the front-end loader, and either build or buy an attachment to swap position and also use on the backhoe when neeed (both ~16GPM).

It seems there's a couple brands... belltec being very popular.
  1. Can anyone share experience with this unit? Skid Steer Auger and Concrete Mixer Attachment | Eterra
The $600 concrete addon seems nice to have for obvious reasons.

  2. We have clay soil, and compacted clay with a mix of small rocks and roots.
I was also looking at these RC4 Combination Auger Bit | Digga
    Any opinions on these too?

  3. Does anyone suggest a Kubota\M59 backhoe attachment to connect the auger I can buy pre-made vs. building one? Saving time is important at the moment.

Thanks :)

I have the small Danhuser unit with the offset SSQA mount. With 10ish GPM if I'm lucky on my 3rd function it's a little anemic. 12" auger vs our super hard clay takes a bit of finesse & lots of stalling the auger.

But it's way better than the 3pt PTO PHD I use to have. Probably 25hp PTO on my old machine vs 15hp hydraulic on my new machine. I can go as fast with the weaker hydraulic unit than I could PTO. Down pressure, reverse & a relief valve make it so much more usable. Not to mention so much less back breaking to hook up (literally, I re-injured my herniated disk on the 3pt once).

I have a 3pt cement mixer I've never used. Often thought about welding that drum to a 2" hex receiver. Turns out I tend to hire out any concrete work & don't use the 3pt mixer & wouldn't use the hydraulic one if I made it either.

I have rented a front hydraulic skid steer mount auger for my M62 before, worked great. I think it had a 12 inch rock bit. I have disintegrated granite base and some large rocks...it never stopped turning so you wont have a power issue at least with this size bit on this machine. I would not rent one for a normal tractor (ie the L6060).

Can you fabricate? I assume you arent going to find something that perfectly matches pin/qa position on both the front SSQA and a backhoe QA (if that is in fact what you have). I can see removing it from the SSQA via a few pins (although you are going to get stress on them pushing into the ground), then having a different fabricated mount for the backhoe QA to work with the same pin alignment. Not sure you can buy something like this. When you get a bit I would get some extra teeth. I lost one in a hole...so its not just about them getting dull.

Looks like Belltec offers some mounts for their augers..but I dont see anything that looks like it will fit Kubota backhoe QA. Probably make one for a JD 310 though.... You could call and ask.

If time is of the essence, can you just rent what you need?

Good to know, I was looking at getting an 8" and 12". I have a PTO Auger - the bits, and never invested in finishing it out due to it's size relative to my tractor and the time to swap backhoe off to drill some holes :D I hear you about concrete, I'd rather hire too but for deck, small fences \ garden fencing, etc... for the minimal extra-cost having the concrete mixer seems useful, at-least right now :D :D

Awesome! That's great news. I'm planning on the 8" and 12" bits which should cover my use-cases for now... Good call with the teeth! I'll be sure to snag some of those.

Yeah, it sounds like I'll end up fabricating my own QA for the BA and just unpin the auger drive unit from the front QA bracket.

Even if I only need posts that wouldn't work well for my location but I do want to use it for doing concrete\tube for my deck, as well as elevating water tanks using larger timbers, and more :)
