i've been to and downloaded the pdf of the user/owners manual for this puppy.

1) after a serious pressure washing the decades of mud buildup, got it clean enough to see and break the bolts and nuts loose.
2) got out a chisel and hammer to test if thats what it needed to pop that lid off the gasket. NOPE. a handful of taps on both rear corners and nothing popped away. IMG_E0759.JPG

So, any suggestions for getting this assembly off the top of the transaxle?
I need to get in there to look at the forks and shafts. I can not get this puppy to shift into high gear for the upper 4 speeds.

I think the term that won't be effective here is "gently". In those years (and maybe now too) Kubota used some very tenacious adhesive sealant - its like an epoxy-very tough.

Pick locations where the cast iron is thickest. Make sure nothing else is still holding it - like an overlooked bolt. Hammer a tapered steel edge (your chisel?) into the seam.

For what's in there I've posted more drawings with your other thread in Owning/Operating

Take care, Dick B.
