How much land do you have? Who has the most on here?

60 acres for me. I know that's by far not the most ... But, how much do you have? Post yours & we'll figure out who's got the most.

I envy those that have enough land that you can actually go into it & not see, hear or even know civilization is out there somewhere

I can get far enough in on my 60 that I can't see cars, but I can still hear them. And, I can see a few neighboring houses.

I've sold some in the past but I have my 36 private acres left and like beppington I am far enough away to hear or see no cars and in fact no other houses...and it is quiet except fot he spillway of the lake, song of the birds, rustling of the squirrles etc...life is good !

In our last house I was sitting at my kitchen table eating breakfast when someone asked, "Watcha havin, Davit?" in a normal tone of voice. It was my elderly neighbor Ben, sitting at his kitchen table eating his breakfast. His wife Irene made him waffles that day. :laughing:

We moved to a much larger spread a few years later. Now I have to raise my voice a bit to find out what the neighbors are eating.

We live on one acre and have about 20 acres in the country. If we ever build there, my nearest neighbor will be at least 600' away and not be able to see me eating breakfast. :thumbsup:

That's funny Moss ..years ago before we bought the farm we lived in a subdivision - I could never do that again..back then I was traveling all the time so when I came home, my time was precious and I would be out playing ball with my son and over came the neighbor men with beer and ready for a party or when I went out to cut the grass..here they came...I just could not take living in a fish bowl...Someone posted this the other day that your time is like coins and be careful how you spend them and be careful not to let others spend them for you...something like that...I am not anti social...just valued my family time since I was traveling so much...I hope you get to build at your farm someday...

I don't mind telling ya I have 10 acres, but around here, most farmers won't discuss how many acres they own or farm. They feel it isn't anybody else's biz. The EWG online database on farm subsidies isn't real popular with those folks either. Nobody wants to be known as the closet socialist?

Our local family physician owns around 3000 acres in the county and he usually tops the list on farm subsidies. I will give him credit, he actually is a hands on farmer when he is out of the office and has also won many awards for being good at woodland management. Ken Sweet

It's that way around here as well. There are those who will brag about how much they farm or own but they sure don't brag about what they owe. The locals or other country folks that have been around know about how much some families farm/own. Some will farm quite a few acers and don't even own the place they live on. Not that uncomon. This is almost like asking how much money do you have in the bank. Just my view.
