How do I add on hydrualics to TC40D?

I found a slightly used 3pt log splitter on Craigslist; pick it up tomorrow.

I do not have rear remotes. Which hydraulic circuit should I hook in to? For now, I need to keep it simple and relatively inexpensive. Eventually I want to add TnT, but that aint happening for a while...

Don't try to hook into anything. Buy the kit from NH (about $550) and install it yourself. Here are a couple of photos of the first remote and me adding the other two remote kits to my tractor. You get the valve, the lever, the piping, and the quick connects all ready to bolt on in the kit. It's simple and elegant.

Ok, I do not understand how that would work with a log splitter though; the splitter has its own control valve.

I went to the Messick site, and see the first remote setup. Does the remote valve have a detent to hold it "open" to power your splitter, while you use the valve on the splitter?

I agree, the factory kit is the way to go, but I got the splitter instead. I'm just looking for a tight budget way to connect it. My thought was to hook in to the Power Beyond from the loader, run hoses out back, and connect them together when the splitter is not hooked up. Then I can reuse hoses when I get my remotes, for TnT.

Do it the easiest way possible if all you want is to run the splitter. Get some long hoses and a couple of male quick connects that fit your loader QCs. Just make sure you get the right fittings. They are not 1/2" like the rear remotes. Next, disconnect the FEL arm raise/lower QCs and hook up your log splitter. Push the joystick forward to float and it will stay in the detent, providing a continuous flow to your splitter so you can use the splitter's valve to control the splitting ram. It will work just fine that way. If you want to be sure the joystick doesn't jump out of float, use a bungee to hold it forward. Of course, if your splitter works backwards, just swap your hoses at the QCs. PIECE OF CAKE!

I thought you wanted a rear remote. Since you don't, you don't have to buy anything much to make it work very well.:thumbsup:

EDIT: You will need to set your 3PH prior to powering the splitter. Once you push that joystick forward, you will have no flow to your 3PH. Of course, if you want to get fancy, just put the splitter on a stack of pallets and don't use the 3PH at all.

I would expect that you could add a power beyond loop to the rear of the tractor for around $200. It would be the same as the plumbing you would add to power a backhoe.

Woods makes a "Hose Kit" for backhoe plumbing or an attachment like a log splitter. It replaces the end block at the tank port on the rear axle (same area where rear remote valves go). The part number is1021867 for your TC40D. Only problem is it costs about $300. It is a very clean setup though with easy access. Hoses remain connected when the accessory is not used, when using the implement unplug QDs and plug in the spitter.

Robert, a complete "TnT" set with 2 1/2" cylinders with 1 1/2" rods & hoses with male QD's shipped to your door for $660. Please keep me in mind when your ready to purchase.

I have the splitter hooked up, as Jinman described. The hoses are going to the loader QA's. I was able to split a few pieces of wood, before putting stuff away so I can get to fire station training in a few minutes...

I was getting fluid out the back of the valve(at the arrow). Not sure about that...
