Hour Meter location on John Deere242,GT275

I am getting ready to order an hour meter kit for My GT242 and would like to know if anyone can tell me before I order this kit, just where it mounts.

This would be from John Deere tot he tune of $71.00

I am thinking it is under the hood on the left side , as there is about a two inch hole already in the frame.

The kits I get are universal and have a small digital readout that can surface mount anywhere

Tiny Tach has them w/hardware and instructions for about half that price, here's the site. On the site they also have the commercial version that used the tractor battery or 9V battery for power.

The Tiny-Tach is $65.00 for the commercial tach according to the web page, I suppose You would have shipping on that as well(never looked). No more difference than that I will order her from John Deere. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The one from Deere is an analog display like the one on the BX'S.

I noticed the price on the Commercial and also noted the features (Contains tachometer, hour meter, two service timers, job timer and max RPM), don't know if the JD contains all these features or is just an hourmeter, could be that's all you want, in that case the $35 Tiny Tack would do that.

All I want is the hour meter to keep track of oil changes(have no idea why I just took a notion for one).

The mower is supposed to be run wide open and that is the way it has been run since new.

I would love to have a Tiny Tach on everything else but then You are talking about Five of them total ....lol
