help with utv selection for some one with physicalissues

I took the back seat grill down...and replaced it with a frame that supports a gun rack....couldn't figure out how to mount a gun rack on the grill....

Unless you are going to be piling wood or something else high in the back and are worried about it falling forward on occupants, I don't see the need for a guard...your needs may be different from mine.

photos are good examples of high rise trailer hitches.

For the front, I mounted a standard cargo carrier (for wheel chair, etc.) on a high rise hitch and have found it EXTREMELY useful...stuff goes there, easier to lift in and out than rear...kinda permanent stuff goes in rear, current task stuff goes in front...

I have a Kubota500 Rtv and also a Polaris 500UTV. The Kubota is easier to get into and drive but max speed is 25 mph at best. The Polaris seat roll bars are a bit of pain to move by to sit down with doors attached. More speed than I need with the Polaris, louder, and foot pedal bothers my back and leg after a while too.
Basically, I think of the Kubota as the workhorse and the Polaris more geared to getting from point a to b faster.

I liked the Polaris but the plastice floor was slick. The kubota is metal with a rubber grooved mat with nice ridges that feel more secure. I also got a great price on the kubota. Waiting on delivery.

I am off to tractor supply today to get a stall mat for the bed. I picked up a battery operated led light and zip ties at Wally world for the cab and a new two gallon insulated water jug. She arrived at the dealers late yesterday. She has to be assembled. I am excited!

Good choice on the Kubota. What everybody said so far plus the fact that my 900rtv is a prosthetic device tool in my case. Even the insurance company agreed. Easy to get in and out and easiest to steer even with bad hands. Cab is modified with all the controls including (6k winch) reachable from drivers seat. Theres a ton of mods you can do but the high intake is the best in not already installed.

Thanks for the advice. I eventually want to do the intake and add lights. Not sure how to wire those but those are my next projects.

I wired lights with the very resourceful assistance from a good friend.
We used a fuse box from a junked vehicle, mounted under the hood and ran lots of wires into a switch box I mounted on the roll bar over the steering wheel. I installed 10 lighted switches I got from a auto supply store for about $2.50 each. Gives me some extras for future use. Also, be aware there are several types of lights...narrow beam, broad beam, etc....be sure and consider what your needs are and get the ones you need.

one option, albeit somewhat pricy, is a GOLIGHT

Golight Stryker™ :: Remote Controlled Searchlights

it's really cool...full features include
magnetic mount base
swivels/rotates all around vehicle, up and down
wireless remote controls, one dash mount, one hand held.
exceptionally bright, I think it's switchable between flood and spot light but need to verify.

Imagine being able to place it on roof of your RTV, go down the road and remotely have it rotate/up down to your desire using dash mount control. Then get out of your RTV....BUT cow/calf runs out of the light...use hand control to have it move back to the animal...I'd consider this level of control a safety feature, shows you tripping objects, etc. while out of your vehicle...

Best of all, done properly, you can remove magnetic mount from RTV and put it on top of a pickup/whatever and get same features....

Wish I had one, may get one...

Her are the pictures below. To all those considering a utv please shop, The
Rtv five hundred was cheaper than john deer and only two hundred more than the Polaris and about five hundred more than a mule. If I had went with the four hundred rtv it would have been cheaper than anyone. Standard on the rtv five hundred front and rear lights, electronic warning system on dash, horn, and hour meter. Some of these items are not standard on other models.
Have fun everyone.
