MF 35 Deluxe Diesel w/ Multi-Power
I recently purchased a running 1963 MF-35 Perkins Diesel with multi-power. The seller had just done a hydraulic fluid flush. I asked him what fluid he used and he sent me this (Legacy ISO 68):

He said that a previous owner has installed a new PTO Hydraulic Lift Pump, and that this is the fluid that matches that pump. He made it seem like this was confirmed and sold to him by a Massey dealer.

My concern is that I know the fluid is for more than just that pump, and I know that this is very thin compared to the original fluid.

Which fluid should I be using? Should I keep in what he added, or switch to something different? If I switch, do I need to drain one completely or can they be mixed?

A different but related issue is that when I got the tractor, the fluid was slowly leaking from around the starter. I checked and the weep hole had been plugged. I drained from the weep hole and removed a quart or more of fluid (mostly hydraulic with a small amount of oil at the beginning and end).

He said the plug had always been there and he'd never had an issue, and that it had never leaked before from the starter. BUT he also told me he just added almost 9 gallons of the Legacy fluid. If true, I am thinking he may have added too much fluid and it may have overfilled into the chamber with the weep hole? Or maybe the seal is having trouble stopping this thin fluid? I have now read posts that if fluid is running out of the starter than there is a good chance that the clutch is contaminated.

Everything is working well right now, though the thin fluid may still be leaking out some from the weep hole... It's hard to tell how bad the leak is just yet as it may simply just be draining excess overflow as the tractor moves from that weep hole. Time will tell.

Any thoughts or suggestions about what fluid to use, and what to do about the possibly contaminated clutch that is currently working perfectly? Should I be worried?

I'm new to all this so thanks for any help, and/or encouragement!
