Just wanted to report on the great success I've had with the battery powered hedge trimmer for the raspberry bushes on the the trails. It came with the standard size 18 volt battery, and I also have two of the high capacity batteries. I used it for four mornings straight, 3 - 4 hours each day. With the three batteries, it lasted longer than I did each day, and I reclaimed the trails from the raspberries. It was a little hard on the back from leaning over to cut the bushes off low. The tool was light weight and the extra batteries were easy to carry in a pack. It was easier than lugging our heavy duty gas powered trimmer, that would have to been fitted with the grass blade or the wood cutting blade, and I would have had to lug a gas can with me. The hedge trimmer also made short work of over growing evergreen branches, instead of clipping them off one at a time with my pruning clippers.
Turns out the hedge trimmer is a good addition to the trail maintaining arsenal.

Sounds good. What is the brand and model?

The hedge trimmer was the heaviest duty 18 volt Ryobi I could find. They also make a 40 volt model with a 24" blade versus this one's 22" blade. I got this one because I already have extra Ryobi 18 volt 4.0 Ah high capacity batteries to use with it. It is model #P2660. It also has the ability to swivel the rear handle to 45 or 90 degrees for trimming the sides of hedges, but that feature was lost on me. I used it in a sweeping motion from side to side for the raspberries. Now if I can just rig up some extension handles so I don't have to bend over...
