The model looks like it reads YM 2002D. Yeah, the 2002 is the year--thats right. Hah. Ask him a question about it and see what response you get.

I didn't know John Deere made Yanmar!!!!!!!!

Right, I didn't know a YM2002 had a 4 cylinder engine. He's just trying to sneak his gray market tractor past the Ebay cops.

Not just an attempt to avoid the yanmar-ebay cops, but either the worst informed seller or most fraudulent seller on ebay--buyer beware.

Yes I have. I agree, it's really bad. As a dealer we may just be more sensitive to these things, or maybe someone brings them to our attention more often, but this is run of the mill as far as I'm concerned. This is the stuff we have had to deal with for years. "Well, the guy over here says he has a 1988 YM2000, and yours is a 1978". How do we convince them? We have lost many sales over the years due primarily to false representation of the product by the other guy. The model year misrepresentation is a very common one. 26HP is a stretch for a YM2002 as well....but it probably comes from that 4th cylinder the seller has added.

An individual in our area has done this for 3-4 years, even telling people he had "factory seconds" that got dented, etc., telling them they had full factory warranty and that WE were the warranty station. This was 3 years ago, and several people contacted us about this, so I have no doubt it was true. Amazing thing is that a couple of them were totally angry with US, absolutely convinced that WE were refusing what they had a right to (warranty service), rather than accepting that he lied through his teeth.

Wayne:

Many people would rather believe that you are unscrupulous rather than believe that the original seller lied (and that they were taken in by this lie). Problems such as this occur because there are no "Authorized Yanmar Dealers" for the grey market, no support, and relatively little information (unless you seriously dig for it). Point them to Yanmar America's web page about the grey market at http://www.yanmar.com/news/grey_tractor.pdf This notification specifically states that Yanmar does not warranty grey market tractors.

They probably still won't believe you. Give them the contact numbers for Yanmar America and let Yanmar give them an earful.

the seller might just be really un-informed. possible? and, that seems like a lot for that tractor....

I think the seller has it it wrong... It has to be a V8....
I thought 2002D meant 2000HP with 2 extra drive wheels in front(code for 4wd)... Right??? The D is for Drive only on land, will not float...

Just goes to show why I would never buy a tractor off e-bay...
Definitely not worth 9K, unless it was owned by Elvis or it converts into a hover craft...

Scary...
