GX75 brake pads

Anyone ever replaced the brake pads on a GX75 rear rider. Do you have to remove the disc to replace the pads? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If i remember right that has the pearless 5 speed trans. Remove the brake assy. Slide off the disc r+r inside brake puck and same with outside. Readjust with bolt in center of brake assy. and that's it.

I can't seem to get the disc off the shaft. I've removed what was left from the old pad but this doesn't help. I'm wondering if my shaft is sticking out too far and I've got other problems to. I called JD about purchasing a tech manual...they want $95 for one of those...wow...Guess I'm gonna have to haul it to the dealer. Its a good mower but not sure I want to invest much in a 12 year old mower.

Can you take a picture of your problem? I'm sure we can come up with a solution for you.

Try hitting it with penetrating oil for a few days and give it a few <font color="brown"> taps </font> with a hammer. It needs to slide on the splines to work properly.

Got that mower going and saved the price of a new one. The JD dealer didn't want to offer any information on repairing this mower but did offer to fix it if I brought it in. I went down there and was looking at the new version of my mower and would you believe they have the same transaxle and brake set up. Its amazing what one little washer in the wrong spot will do...lol. I told them I was just looking...thanks anyway guys.
