My parents are out of town for a few weeks and I'm mowing the yard for them. Prior to their departure, my dad had a problem with his GT275 stalling while he was mowing. He bought a new fuel filter for it but before putting it on, cleaned off some dirt from the tiny hole in the gas cap. It seemed to run fine, so he never put the new fuel filter on.
The last two weekends I've gone to mow at their place and I have run into the same problem. You will be mowing and it will just stall for no reason. I can restart it but then it will immediately stall when I move the throttle from choke to the run line with the rabbit.
Two weeks ago, I replaced the fuel filter. It seemed to fix the problem, and I was able to finish the yard. This week, I got about half way through and it began doing the exact same thing.
I see fuel being pulled through the filter but there is no constant volume in the filter when the engine shuts off. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what this problem could be? Is there a fuel pump on this unit and if so, could that be the cause?
Thanks for the assistance. I just found this discussion forum and I hope someone can lend a hand.
