Interesting idea. Might need to develop some type of tractor campaign ribbons! Like 2002 Stump Wars, or 2002 Bushwhacker Conflict. Of course, then you'd be required to paint a stump (or bush) on the side of the tractor for each one that you took out, and was confirmed! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

What do I do for my shed that has battle wounds along its door jam caused by the FEL or BB because the driver was not watching were he is going?

Consider yourself lucky /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. Friend of mine had just bought a brand new rear tire for his old farm tractor. Then he bought a 6 foot boxblade at an auction and had it hooked up with the scarifiers down. His three point lower arms are the chain type witha lot of slop. When he went over a bump one of the scarifiers caught the tire. Scarifier won. Not salvageable - totally shredded the tire. He hasn't put the boxblade back on yet!! /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

The driver would get what I call The Operator Head Space and Timing Award! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Jerry, many if not all auto-glass repair shops use a black sealant to set new windshields in place. This sealant I think may be polyurethane based, and it remains flexible forever. The sealant also sticks to everything, including glass, rubber, plastic and metal. If you've ever changed a windshield, you'll know how durable and tough to remove it can be. Unlike rubber cement, it does not remain sticky or roll when rubbed. If you really want to try to fill in the gouge, I suggest you clean it up, deflate the tire so the sidewall will be more flexible, and take it in and see if they can fill it. The gun they usually use to apply the sealant has a very small, pointed nozzle so they should be able to get the sealant into the cracks reasonbly well. After its filled, it would be best to inflate the tire before cleanup. The sidewall may swell a little so you don't want to clean it all up and then find you've got a bit of the gouge left. Clean the area up when done so there's no sealant edges sticking out and I think you'll be reasonably pleased with how well the majority of the gouge is filled. I think cleanup is just with point thinner, but it might be something stronger like lacquer thinner - they'll know.

/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Might like to fill it just for cosmetic reasons.

Do you get a medal reguardless of how it happens, or does it have to be a documented accident? Unfortunately, we all know some people will do anything to "win" /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif. Perhaps having video cameras mounted on the ROPS so a civilian oversight committee (made up with at least one "real farmer") can review the tapes before any medals are awarded /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif.

Sorry to hear about you getting gouged. Here is a pic of my "hangnail" in the sidewall. Could see the cord but none broken. Got a tube of "crazy glue" cleand the wound and applied generous amount and pressed into place with blunt screw driver. Can hardly find the place now. I'm with the other who say if cord is NOT broken then run with it.

Norris:

Your right I can't see any sign of your "hangnail". ??????
