Google Earth in your neighborhhood?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Recently the 360degree pictures of an adjacent road to the farm have shown up on google earth and our other house which is on a corner lot is cleary visible from the paved road images they have taken and posted.

I was wondering if you folks are aware of this and have/would find it an invasion of privacy?

From a real estate, tax assesor or thief point of view this is a great tool.....

Not at all, it's the same view anybody would get passing by on the public road.

You don't even need to download Google earth ..... just type your address in Google & hit map selection and then satellite view on the top right. Amazing stuff.

I have used Google Earth to find coordinates at a place we fish that is eight hours away. I downloaded these coordinates in to my GPS and this does work. I can find gravel roads, channels in lakes, and boat ramps within thousands of acres by downloading them here at home. The GPS takes me within a few feet. It takes a little time to do this. Something to do in the winter. And it's free.

For our part of the world, Google Earth shows the property boundaries. It's easy to see that it comes from our tax assessors website, but the one that links all that up is at a higher pay grade than me.

Who takes the pictures? There are a series of them going down the highway I live on. My house and vehicles are there clear as day. I'm not offended, but slightly amazed.

My house is the only one on the road with the address numbers on it and it is the only one you can find if you do a search on the road, they also have the road a couple of miles longer than it is.

The satellite image they have our our place is about 5 years old, and our house doesn't show at all.

I wish they would update it, not because I need to know what my place looks like, but because I want to know of all the other home sites around me, which is difficult with the hills, winding roads and woods.

Just be aware of who is in what direction if I should happen to want to take a shot.
