Looking to replace the Cub Cadet CC3000 that died after 10 years last season.

Not up on who makes good ones; I'm price sensitive and so for I am looking at the Stihl FS45. Also looking at Husqvarna models. Other recommendations in that range ($150.00) would be appreciated. This will be a low-use item.

I don't know who makes the best, but, I bought the cheapie model made by "Weedeater" that is sold in Wallyworld, about 4 years ago. I figured if it lasted one season it had done its job. Have fun and stay safe........

I've heard good things about the Stihl and Husky trimmers. I bought a Echo at HD 4 years ago and I'm very satisfied with it. All I do is once a week grass trimming around the yard.

I've got a Stihl FS90 and I LOVE it, but it was a bit more than your target price.

I'm considering getting a second so I can permanently leave the metal brush cutter blade on...

Be well,
David

Ditto the FS90. It's one badass trimmer.

I picked up the Stihl FS56. They had a deal going on whereby you purchased a trimmer and a six pack of the Stihl oil mix and they give you double the manufacturer's limited warranty on the product. That gives me four years. The unit is lighter, and quieter, than my old cub cadet. All I do is trim around the yard 1 x per week MAXIMUM, so I did not want to spend much more than I did (170.00). Thanks for the input.

I have had a Tanaka for 16 years. Trim a 6/10 acre yard every week. Also have a saw blade and brush blade for it and really do like that brush blade. I chose Tanaka because my neighbor has a lawn service and has 3 of them and swears by them. As I understand it Tanaka has the patent on the centrifical force auto string feed head and mine has never failed- not the tap and go type of feeder.
