Good morning!!!!

50°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 68° today. More rain coming in the wee small hours of the morning tomorrow and into Friday. Then, it's looking like we may be moisture free for the next week.

I've read that as well about the small mounds, Randy. Interestingly enough, just west of the mounds site here on the opposite side of I-70 is a giant garbage dump ("landfill" is the pleasant name they use) that makes Monk's Mound look like a dirt clod by comparison.

Hope your Wife stays mild, BEF.

Phil, is that a pallet of wood pellets?
Yes. Two of the 5 tons waiting to be moved into the garage. We bought next years supply before the price jumps up. They are already 30 bucks a ton more than what we paid.
48 here with rain all day in the forecast. Think it will be a good jigsaw puzzle day after chores are done!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

I've seen that story, Ken. Women killing their children doesn't happen without some larger issue at play. Sorry your town is having to endure such a tragedy.

"No one is certain why this happened"

I don't think there has been enough focus on the damage that the virus can do to the brain but I have no idea what could be done about that.
It seems like it is increasingly common but still very sad.

Good morning! 52 now, may go up some. It just stopped raining again.

Got a lot of rain yesterday. I was hoping the driveway would be damp enough to do some maintenance today with the box blade, but it is now likely too wet. Maybe tomorrow.

Yesterday’s “puttering” ended up being somewhat busy time checking squish band on a Bultaco 350 Astro engine. And finding out the piston needs the skirt trimmed on the exhaust side. 🤦‍♂️ The squish band was easy, turns out the sand cast head I found /stock was die cast) has a machined combustion chamber and needs no special attention. And the squish is about .002” bigger than the calculated ideal. Of worth the bother to improveit, will actually reduce swirl velocity very slightly, which may keep the head/cylinder cooler.

Piston is from another model, but finding standard bore pistons is tough. So a friend of mine can trim it to match another piston I have for another cylinder that has a larger bore. I need to drill lube/cooling holes too.

Got to talk to a couple of people Saturday that have experience with Kawasaki twin race bikes. My raffle special is, at best, poorly put together. Turns out a lot of the things on the bike are mainstream, just very poorly done. One guy who is now fairly well known for building fast Indians doesn’t live far from me, gave me his phone # and said call him anytime for advice and even some parts! Progress.

Hope your wife is ok BEF.

Not sure what today will bring.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Good Morning!!!! 68F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High around 90F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Sounds promising on the bike, Rich. Nothing like having a guru in your corner!

How 'bout some pics of your backstop, Billy? I could use some pointers...

Too hot, too early, Don. Didn't you feel those brambles chewing up your arms?

One of the little MIG (GMA) welders available now would be easy to master, and work better, too, on the sheet metal on the trailer, Bill. They call it stick welding because the short, coated electrodes have a tendency to stick to the work and turn orange, especially until you get the hang of it. With MIG, you just point it where you want the weld and pull the trigger.

Punched another hole in the wall to bring the Starlink antenna cable inside, so now don't have to keep the sliding door in that room cracked open to use the link. Still no delivery update on the accessory pieces, other than some of them haven't even shipped yet. Maybe next week.

I did get in touch with the freight company that's handling the flail, and they might be able to deliver today. Depends on if they get it transferred up from Sacramento. Oddly, the origin is in Oregon, so it already went by here once. Contractor has a neighbor that might be interested in buying the old one.

Progress on the driveway, but my measurements still find it too steep in some sections. There's some doubt as to the accuracy of my technique, so the contractor is bringing a laser to do measurements today. Should be interesting.

Got some seat time moving more downed trees around, and getting the forks mounted to the tractor to be ready when the delivery truck gets here. That almost guarantees a late delivery.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

72 going to 81, got .01” of rain.

Went to have the second tumor in my leg removed this morning and it had disappeared, completely. No sign of the external growth and nothing on X-ray. Two weeks ago it still looked just like the bigger one that was removed only smaller. The X-ray from last month clearly showed it, today, perfectly clear.
Sometimes you just have to accept that we aren’t in control.

Good morning to all! Low of 40°, going up to the upper 70's. Strong breezes now, supposed to get gusts to 35-40 mph this afternoon.

Not sure if I'll head outside or not.... usually I will attempt to 'beat the race with the wind', but that doesn't work 90% of the time..... I might just try to do a few simple things that would just take a little time. That way I could just stop if needed to get out of the wind.

BEF, hope the wifey is ok and it's just a false alarm....

Roy, hope you feel better too!

Ken, that's awful news about the kids.... people have problems, but to take it to that extreme is sad. The wifey went to Council Rock.... hits close to home.

RNG, what brand of flail did you get?

Everyone have a great day!

"Didn't you feel those brambles chewing up your arms?"

I have a long diagonal scratch across the inside of my forearm. Just about healed now. I never felt it till I saw the blood. Hey I was working. I need to take the hedge trimmer up and prune back the briars along the lane.
