Been looking at Genie TX 34/20 tow behind lifts. Got an offer online from Buffalo Forklift LLC. Has anyone dealt with this person?
The unit is in Illinois where the warehouse is supposed to be located. The Buffalo address (suburb of Williamsville) is a business HQ address.
He says a wire transfer will get me an ANSI inspected machine and it will be trucked to my location in upstate NY.
My 6th sense is saying "scam", but a thorough search of the net shows exactly zero complaints about this company or it's listed owner.
Has anyone bought machinery from this outfit? If so, good experience? Bad? Indifferent?

More than one scam involving a real company name and a apparently real website.. easy to check out.. find their website without using any link provided by the seller, call and speak with someone and ask about the lift. Also contact the BBB or other consumer check agency.

I have spoken with the supposed owner of the business. Buffalo Forklift LLC has ads all over the internet on their own site and many others.
The BBB search does not turn up the biz name, phone number or URL. But on the other hand there are no scam or fraud complaints about this biz or individual (Arcangelo Capozzolo) anywhere on the net that I can find.

Ask for references, tell him you'd love to do business, but are unsure due to the lack of outside references.

How good is this deal? too good to be true? or just a good deal. A name can be invented. Someone, somewhere would have some info on a for real company for you to check into.

It's a fair deal for the machine. 2005 Genie TZ 34/20 with 210 hours on it. $12,500.
However, a Google search of this guy's name shows that he was caught up in a stock picking website scam and fined $25k by the SEC. Sorry Arc, I guess we don't have a deal! :p

I'm from Buffalo, never heard of Buffalo Forklift. The address is a lot of small businesses under one roof, except their name is not listed.
In Google maps, 80 earhart drive, 14221 - Google Maps

You won't find their name listed.

I think its some sort of front in Williamsville. Yet another reason that I steered clear. I couldn't drive down to see the unit and pay up in person, so I declined to deal. Thanks for the heads up though.
At any rate, I'm still looking for a trailer mounted boom lift if anyone has any ideas. I'm in the Watertown, NY area but don't mind a 3 or 4 hour drive to get what I need. That would put me from anywhere from Plattsburgh to Buffalo to just across the PA border.
I've sent out a few inquiries, but it was during the evening so I'm waiting to see if anyone replies during business hours.

Does anyone know if there's some sort of national clearinghouse for equipment dealers, similar to MLS for realtors?
I ask because I've been contacted by AllWest equipment in Bellingham, WA about a lift that's located in Wappingers Falls, NY. Then this morning while searching the 'net, pics of the exact same machine/exact same price are being shown by National Lift of Bristol, PA.
These guys may very well be legitimate, but you really have to be on the ball to avoid a scam. At least AllWest is willing to have me drive down and view the machine before any fund change hands. I've yet to hear from National Lift because I contacted them in the early AM on a weekend.

I definitely wouldn't buy an aerial lift without seeing and operating it first. There are interlocks and other safety measures that can be a bear to track down and repair. I was in the market for a towable aerial lift for 7 months when one showed up on Craigslist about 75 miles from me. I went and looked at it, operated it, and then decided to purchase. It was a NiftyLift TM34T. It sure has been handy for trimming trees. I'm going to use it later this summer when I prep and paint my house instead of climbing up and down ladders.
