Oil & Fuel GC2410 Hydrostatic oil change

hi, my machine is ready for the 250 hr hydro oil change. I plan on putting the backhoe on and positioning the bucket/backhoe cylinders such that the oil in the cylinders is evacuated as much as possible to prevent old oil from being kept in the system. does anyone know for sure if the suction filter screen can be removed with the backhoe installed?

how much oil will I need to buy to cover this? The manual says 11.9 liters, but I know the oil level in the sight glass fluctuates quite a bit depending on loader/backhoe positioning. I am guessing that it takes quite a bit of oil to extend all the loader/backhoe cylinders.

also, those of you using amsoil, is the ATH05-EA 5 gallon pail the one to get?

Don't loose sleep over the oil left in the system, it is unavoidable, and not a big factor. The old oil is still fine. And it will mix with the new oil, even if you use the Amsoil.

Some have said they were able to remove the suction screen with the tire on, (the B/H doesn't matter), but It is pretty easy to just remove the tire. If you removed it for the 50 hr, I personally would not worry if you did not pull it now.

Doing the oil change with the B/H on would be difficult, the oil filler port is also between the B/H and the tractor.

Buy a 5 gallon bucket of oil, and you will be all set.

The suction filter screen is on the left side of the tractor, near the front side of the rear tire, so having the backhoe on shouldn't be a problem.

EDIT: The book says to remove the left rear tire to remove the suction filter screen, but that is not necessary, if you don't mind laying on the ground for a few seconds. The screen will come out if you pull, then angle to the inside of the rim(towards the axle).

well, got it done this morning.

can see now how having the backhoe on would make things more difficult.

got the screen out with the tire on, couple of long stringy filings but other than that not too bad.

local mf dealer didn't have amsoil, so I used case hy-tran ssl extreme. we'll see how that works out.

I removed the tire and the backhoe and found changing the oil easy.
