Gasoline Tractors are they coming Back ?

The more volatileone, obviously! Although to be fair, diesel generally works much better for getting a damp bonfire pile going.

I tried to start a wet leaf pile on fire with gas when I was in my teens. I threw a cup of gas on the wet leaves and walked away to get a match. Was gone about a minute. Came back, lit the match, tossed it at the pile, and WOOF!

The pile looked like a cartoon X-Ray where I could see the veins in every leaf as they exploded in all directions. Apparently, the dampness kept the fumes in the pile. It was amazing and terrifying all at once. I lost some eyebrows.

My dad did that to me once with a pile of clipped tree branches, trying to contain the gypsy moth caterpillars in their nests. He doused that pile so full of gasoline, that the match i flicked into it made the pile actually jump with an audible BOOM sound; mom and sister came running out of the house. Thankfully my eyebrows were intact.

I had a friend in high school that thought it would be funny to inhale gas from the bunson burner then blow it out over a lighter like a fire eater.... he didn't asphyxiate himself, but he lost his eyebrows and a bunch of wavy hair. And the smell of burning hair is not easy to forget.

I get my diesel the second week in September. Started with gassers and went to diesels....best thing I ever did on my farm....never looking back. Red diesel is usually less than a dollar more than gas and considering the efficiency and lack of maintenance requirement, that little extra cost is mitigated.
