I've got a bit of corrosion around the battery area on my TC33D, so to put an end to that problem I spent the money on an Optima battery. Just after installing the battery the tractor would not start. After being mislead by my manual I finally solved the problem. The fuse in the #5 slot (fifth down from the top) was blown, which provides power to the lockout sensors on the tranny, seat, and brakes. The tractor will not start without a good fuse in that spot. The problem is that the manual says that #5 is the turn signals, and doesn't mention the lockout circuits at all. My turn signals work fine without fuse #5 in place. Is it possible that I got the wrong manual? Mine shows the fuse block on page 3-23. Since I bought the tractor used, I would like to make sure that #5 should be a 7.5 amp fuse. My manual says it should be a 10 amp fuse, but I'm not sure what to believe at this point. The tractor was sold to me with a 7.5 amp fuse in the #5 slot. Can anyone else verify what their manual says and / or what fuse they have in the #5 spot?

This problem was covered not long ago. You have an incorrect manual. My manual shows the correct wiring. The fuse should be a 10 amp. It powers the "Fuel shutoff solenoid / operator seat switch / range neutral safety start switch."

Here's the thread where it was discussed. I posted some pics from my manual there. You can look and see if they look right for yours.

Steve,

I was the person who Dave replied to about the same situation you have encountered. My manual indicated as yours that the #5 fuse 7.5 amp was for the turn signals. However, as you have discovered the #5 fuse is a 10 amp for the safety circuit. I visited my dealer shortly after my incident and showed him the pages Dave had posted. He gave me a copy of a manual which had the same date code as Dave's (10/02). One interesting note was that this new manual listed a range of serial numbers which it covered, mine was a little outside of that range being a lower number. I'm guessing my tractor was one of the first to receive the wiring changes. I feel that this new manual (10/02) is more accurate than the one I had received which had a date code of 9/02.
