Ford Generator light stays on

Replaced battery on 1973 gas ford 2000. Now the generator lights stays on. Even at high rpm's.
What steps to take to find problem?

Try polarizing the generator.

Thanks for the tip, Ultradog. But it was the voltage reg. I had tried before without taking the reg. off, but had not gotten the stripped wire in the field to battery in far enough. Thought I had, but didn't. Stripped the wire more, and it sent in far enough to make contact. Problem solved. Thanks
