Okay guys I got my new head in for my 8n today and the new head gasket is a laminated one. There is a completely smooth side and one with imprints in it. Which side goes up toward the head and should I use any sealer on it since it is laminated?

i usually use the fider not the metal gasket. and it's been a while since i did an N head.

if it's not printed ( and many are ).. and it's not a 1-way gasket, i usually opt for a crimp up.. if it leaves a mark, a head is easier replace or to plane and then relieve, than it is to deck a block.

That's what I'll go with then. I've never used one of these either. I've seen just plain metal head gaskets before but not one with two metal sides and fiber in between. Thank.
