New to tractor scene. Bought a Ford 3000 diesel, about a 68 vintage. PTO will not hold position and shutters when lowering. What would be the proper order of diagnosis?
First thing I'd do is change all the fluids and filters including the air filter and use the correct fluid that is recommended for the tractor (and not your wallet). You have no idea of what is inside it, or the age of the fluids. Where you start.
PTO shudder is usually a result of driveline misalignment between the implement and the pto stub but can also be caused by the universal joints being out of time. Why pto shafts only slide together one way.
