Ford 2120 transmission dipstick

I’m working on a 2120 HSS and the transmission dipstick has machine marks in it from contact with a shaft/gear.
The dipstick is not bent do I’m asking if this is an occasional issue or a sign of impending disaster.
Transmission operates fine.

Below is the picture of my 1700 manual transmission looking from above. The dipstick is located on the right top side of the transmission case. On Hydro transmission the motor is just a pump but then you have gears that basically mechanically give you hi-low-medium speed. This is how it is done with many tractors and doubt if yours is any different. The debris and the shaving will fall to the floor of transmission and then carry back perhaps to the rear diffy where it is the main oil reservoir. I think at worst the derbies if they move will be collected in the filter before so there is a little chance of it messing with your Hydro motor that is the most sensitive part of your transmission. I think guys will chime in to corroborate or disagree with what I say.

PS. If you have not changed the hyd oil for a while it might not be a bad Idea to do so and see if you can find metal in the filter or if you can clean the bottom of the differential floor.

Out if curiosity , I checked your rig on NH. website. HSS stood for Hydraulic Shuttle Shift , rather than Hydro-static transmission. At any rate I think my original statement is correct that shaving will be collected in the bottom of the transmission case, might move to the rear diffy housing and will be collected by the filter if it travels that far. Your main hyd pump for the 3-point should be protected. have couple of PDF for your benefit here.
