Hi -- I am looking at a house that has a Ford 1715, 4wd, FEL, 1200 hours parked out back.

It has not been run in a few years, tires are good. It has been under cover. I'm thinking I can get it thrown in with the house purchase

Anything I should know or look for?

Make sure the roof don't leak. Is it an owner or estate sale ? There must be a reason it wasn't moved in that period of time. It don't hurt to ask......

It is an owner sale. The owner moved back home to take care of her parents.

I don't need the tractor, figured I could clean it up and sell it for 5k anyways. Maybe more?

If I was selling property and someone saw my tractor and asked for me to throw it in ..it would kill the deal !

I figure in this market it doesn't hurt to ask :)

Are you interested in the property or the tractor ? Ask the owner if it is for sale. All he can say is yes or no. If he shows any interest in selling get a ball park figure as to what he thinks its worth. I would check the listing very carefully and if serious make an offer with a stipulation ( if you found out it may be for sale ) you purchase the tractor for X number of dollars. This way he doesn't feel your stealing his equipment with the sale of the property. Everything is negotiable, and this opens the door to an agreeable price for both.
* If this works..... try for the 57 Chevrolet convertible in the garage parked because the roof leaked.

I got a Ford 1900 exactly in this manner. Bought the house and asked for the tractor and implements. Sold the 73" snowblower last summer. Probably should have kept it as this winter was a doosy here. 21" snowfall one week and the next one was a foot. Easy come easy go. The last big one we had was in 93' and I figure by then I'll be in the nursing home lol.

If my place were for sale (it's not!) and the buyer was willing to come close to my asking price and wanted a tractor (that I wouldn't need at my next home), then I would be willing to consider an offer. However, since it wasn't for sale, and I have the home court advantage of knowing what is wrong with it, and since I purchased it, thereby having an idea of what it was worth, at least when I bought it, I probably have a lot better idea of what it is worth, so BUYER BEWARE...

check the head for cracks and for water in the oil and trans shift lever for slack but i wish it was in louisiana and u got it and wonted to sell it for 5k i would love to find some at that price it is a 9000 to 12000 dollar tracor depending on seat metal so if u can get it threw it that would be a good little tractor to use if u needed onee at the place
