What does Ambra Multi G 134 look like?

So, I drained my front axle without looking at the book first...

When I got my tractor, the bolts were busted on the ring gear. Shop repaired it before delivering it to me, and said to change the oil... Well, I used it a while before changing the oil... I shoulda changed it before now.

So today, I drain the front axle oil. It looks like 90W to me. Greenish hue. Clean, but real heavy.

So the book I was given is for a TC40DA, but I would guess lubes would be the same. The book indicates pretty much everything uses the same hydro fluid, front axle, front wheel gear reduction, tranny, HST.

Castrol has a cross lit, which appears to replace the Ambra Multi-G 134, as well as Kubota SUDT.

Did the shop make a mistake when they reassembled the axle? I have seen their work before(they put the loader on my old Kubota); they have usually done really good work, and have been real helpful.

If they used 90W, they made a mistake. It is Multi-G 134 as you indicate. Look at your rear dipstick for the reservoir and you'll see 134 is thin and light amber. It sometimes turns dark in the front axle, but it should not be thick. It has the viscosity of 10w30 motor oil.

Yep yep yep. The hydro fluid in the tranny looks like, well, hydro fluid.

So the big question is, what can I use? My closest NH dealer is almost two hours away. Have you used anything besides Multi-G 134?

I used Valvoline AW32 from Kragen O'Riley in my old Kubota.

I have NAPA, Krage-O'Riley, Auto-Zone all within 10 minutes of here... I only have 3/4 gallon of the Valvoline; I need to get more fluid no matter what. I'm guessing the final drives have the same oil in them too...

Robert, I would not hesitate to use UDT if you have some. I believe you could also use the AW32. I would not use a straight hydraulic fluid, but a transmission/hydraulic fluid should do just fine. I always save some of my transmission fluid when I change the hydraulics and then use it to top off the front axle or do changes. The fluid in the front axle is essentially gear oil and the 300 hour hyd fluid is just fine for that.

I have 3/4 gallon of the AW32; not enough. Plus, I think maybe I should change out the front final, run it a little, and then change again. Hopefully that will get the heavy gear oil out.

I always put the extra left over from fluid changes on the Kubota, into a smaller jug for topping off. The Kubota only used a little over 4 gallons for a full fluid change though...

BTW Robert, be sure and don't overfill the front axle. Ours are NOT vented. The air inside gets compressed. If you have all fluid and no air, the axle seals will blow. The first time I opened the dipstick on a hot day, I was shocked by the outrush of air. I did some checking and found out the axle is not vented.

Robert, I just changed my fluids and purchased the NAPA Heavy Duty hydraulic fluid. The container lists the M2C134 A,B,C,D compatability.

Your drives may be bigger than mine but 24oz is what was needed to fill both my final drives. I lost count of many oz's I put in the drive line.

I got a gallon of the NAPA fluid. It does, say 134 compatible. Will finish changing the fluids tomorrow; off to dinner now.

Finished changing the front axle and reduction drive fluids. Everything had heavy weight oil.

Thinking run it for 10 hours or so and change it again.

Axle fluid is at the top of the mark on the dipstick, without the dipstick screwed in(per manual).

keep in mind many walmarts and tsc's carry utf fluids too.

i keep no plain hyd fluid at the house.. wouldn't want to mix it up accidentally.
