I'm looking to pick up an L6060 this summer and have a question about the fender mount FEL control valve which is standard on this model. All the other Kubota's I've owned used the old tried and true frame mount FEL valve with long joystick. Although the joystick can sometimes get in the way, I've found the positive feel of the valve to be very easy to use. This is especially true when making fine bucket / pallet fork adjustments while standing up to get a better view of the bucket or fork tips. (Yes, I'm one of those reckless individuals who bypassed the seat safety switch.)

In the farm community where I live, there is a lot of criticism of the fender mount valve setup. None is specific to the L6060 though and most refers to "sloppiness" caused by poor linkage or cable designs. It seems to me it would be difficult to operate a fender mount valve while standing which I find absolutely necessary for certain work. I'm curious if anyone here who has a Kubota fender mount valve can offer an opinion.

My L4060 should have the same setup as a L6060 (at least a cabbed one, open station might be different). I like the OEM fender setup more than the loader mounted joystick on my previous L3200.

I can see the cables stretching or linkage stuff causing issues compared to the direct attached stick. I love the better arm support sitting on the fender vs unsupported reaching up to the loader mounted one. Really no difference in performance or control between the 2 though.

Thanks for your input.

Do you have a cab on your L4060? I'm looking at an open station model. Is it possible to operate the FEL while standing?

Yes, cabbed machine. The cab means no standing but I could probably reach while standing. Tapping the go pedal would stall the machine unless you got wired the seat presence sensor (I zip tied mine down on my old L3200). Operating the loader while standing shouldn't be a problem with the safety sensors.

I have a fender mounted one. I'm pretty sure the stick is direct to the valve with no cables. I prefer it to the arm mounted ones and its easily used while standing.

I have a 2015 open station L6060 with FEL but must admit that I have not yet used the FEL. It's a mowing tractor.

When standing, your hand on the joy stick will be right beside your thigh and not visible if watching the bucket. The joy stick itself, though, I believe, cable operated, is as precise as that on my M9960 and my recently replaced MF 2636, which was mounted directly to the valve.

I would be interested to learn how you defeated the seat interlock. Doing so is on my list of things to do but a simple shorting out of the seat switch was not successful. It appears that the computer looks for both make/break of the seat switch.

Thanks for the info.

I haven't taken delivery on the L6060 yet so I'm not sure how to bypass the seat switch. I ordered the optional air ride seat which may further complicate the process. On my current MX5800 and old L3430, I just immobilized the switch arm with a zip tie.

I tried that but it did not work.

Let me know when you figure it out.

On my L3200 I just zip tied the plastic arm on the switch down. That seat folded forward though. Was easily removed for other operators & when I sold it.

Looked briefly on the air ride on my L4060hstc but couldn't see anything obvious. Not sure how I'd run a stationary PTO impliment. Less concerned as I can start the L4060 from the ground with just the key. The L3200hst needed you to push in the clutch & I think be in the seat.
