Faster hydraulics on an X495?

Hi Guys,

I do a fair bit of loader work on my 495, and whilst I'm not looking to be able to lift any more weight, I would like to operate faster. Even raising and lowering and tipping an empty bucket is tediously slow. Is there a fix for this?

Might look at making larger lines to lessen the flow restrictions.

Might check to see if there are any restrictors in the lines now too.

You are limited by the flow (GPM) of the pump, I don't think there is anything you can do short of replacing the pump and that is not cheap or easy.

I don't know much about hydraulics (but at least I can spell it

), so does the following have any bearing on my issue? If I have the bucket raised, then put the lever in the float position the bucket obviously falls back down under gravity, but if mid way through falling I turn the tractor off, the bucket falls much faster. Does that suggest that my limiting factor may not be the valves and lines and therefore suggests the pump is the issue?

Might be a good time to check the pump psi to learn the answer to that question.

edit: That will rule out the pump question, if you think it might be bad.

kennyd has shown a pic of a short hose with male QC (connector) on one end and pressure guage on the other that would make it easy. I'm going to build one the first excuse I have for it.

Pressure does not make things faster, flow or GPM does. The picture of my gauge is at home so I can't post it anyway.

That just means the pressure is being relieved without being regenerated.... It falls faster but has no load carrying ability.

I tried changing lines, fittings, etc., when I had a 595 with a 45 loader and could never get it to go fast. The best cure for this is to......get a 2305 (although its cycle times are pretty slow too). I wish I could help here but I had the same problem.

You could install the pump off an X500-series. It was larger as JD expected more loader use on the 4wd models. Not sure if the lines are different, but I doubt it.

You should also install the "regenerative" kit in the SCV valve. The regen kit will allow the bucket to dump much faster - almost like it's an old mechanical trip bucket. It uses the weight in the bucket to force it down, and the kit changes the oil flow in the SCV to allow the oil that is leaving the cylinder to flow to the extending side, which flows faster than the pump could provide it.

I'd definately do the regen kit.
