Well, here's another mod I've been wanting to do for the last two years.
I had 2 sets of 100w halogen off road lights sitting around but never got around to installing them either.
That is until Larry came to visit this last time. He came to get his injector pump he ordered from Scott, but also help with the arrival of Loretta's tractor. Of course customs delayed their arrival so Larry had to find other things to keep him occupied for the week.

We decided on their mounting position first. I wanted two to face forward, slightly shining to the side, and two to the rear, angled the same way. I already have front head lights and a rear work light, but the front was blocked by the loader bucket when raised up a little.
So here is Larry starting to install the lights on each side of the ROPS bracket.

Larry added several heavy duty light switches and changed around the ones that were there. The new lights were wired through one switch with it's own 30 amp fuse. These do not run through the ignition switch to activate them. He added a new switch for the existing rear work light and move the location of switches so they would fit and work. It didn't take him long since he's an expert in this field.

BTW, you can see the fuse box he added last year, when he switched out the OEM Kama fuse box with an automotive style.

Larry calculated out that the load and amps drawn would not be of concern. He made sure of that before starting the project.
Later that evening, we had a chance to try them out.
Shees, they are bright as all get out. Here they are in the shed, but in driving around with them, it lit up the front and back ... all around the tractor. That was exactly what I was looking for, since I get caught out after dark on my rural property a lot. This makes working at night a lot easier to see and much safer.
You can see in that last photo that I'm very pleased to what was done.
Thanks again Larry! You brighten my day (and nights now).

Yet again another fine mod If I don't say so myself ;) Your very welcome Rob, it was my pleasure.

No kidding they are super bright, I guess next time out we will be upgrading the alternator.

Oh forgot to mention I needed four wire nuts to tie some wires together. I took your ATV up to your Log home site. I looked all around for some laying on the floor, none to be had so I unscrewed a few from electrical outlets the electricians roughed in. Don't worry, they will replace them when they go to install the switches and outlets. It will be obvious the wire nuts are missing. They might think they are loosing it though.

We never got to test them outside the canopy. Did you have a chance to do that after the front drive repair? I remember we talked about maybe having to fine tune the aim a little if needed. Did you have to tweak them at all?

OK someone answer this for me - How is it I've not yet done this for my tractor

Hey Rob,

Great mod! It looks like you need a landing strip as bright as those dudes are!:D :D :D

Dr. Pepper has nothing on you! Be it 10, 2(am) or 4(am), you can now have a refreshing ride on your tractor despite the night!

Larry, I don't why you haven't put lights on your tractor yet but if the mood strikes you again to modify another tractor, I'm in Louisiana. Just look for the red tractor without night lights!!!

It's a male 'bonding' thing.

Yeah, they are bright!
After I got the front drive repaired I took it out. I ended up working into the night and used them. They light up the work area all around just as we thought they would. What I really like is that they light up the perimeters of the work area so you can see next to the tractor, both in front and behind. The existing front headlights and rear work light was just for in front and behind the tractor. This mod made all the difference.

Now I need to move my front headlights, since the are partially blocked by the loader bucket. lol ... Ken told me he has an old hood scoop and would give it to me. When I install that, I will also move the front headlights to a better position for straight forward illumination.
I guess I need to send you some of those off road lights Larry. Then you can do that mod to your Jinma too!

For the light install, where did those brackets come from?

Also, is it OK to drill holes in the ROPS?

Look great! I can't see how I did without my worklights.

we are going to have to make a new forum for you I think Rob, I think maybe your tractor use to be a Karma way back when and now its just something different
