Everlast PowerArc 160

Hi Mark, nice talking with you a few days ago. Sorry again about your FIL. Eagerly waiting on the 200st, if I didn't need to run 120v I would have went with the 160. And like you said why would anybody want to run AC when you have DC available for stick welding. We used to run AC rod on DC all the time. The only thing I ever used AC for was Aluminum TIG and thawing Pipes! CJ

A/C stick came in handy when some old steel had massive arc blow - and moving the ground clamp didn't help

I'll have to keep my eyes out for those I mostly buy the TSC stuff because it's easy and come in a manageable quantity for home use.

I got a great deal on ESAB Atom Arc 7018 on Amazon a while back and really liked the way it ran on my PowerArc 200ST.

Atom Arc runs nice. I think the Acclaim is just a touch better.
This weld is ESAB Atom Arc.

I don't doubt you one bit! I'm probably not good enough to tell the difference, but I'd like to give the Acclaim a try. I just remembered I got my Atom Arc 7018 off eBay for $75 shipped (50lbs of 1/8")...thought that was pretty decent.

Heck I am running old stuff I have from 20 years ago and it still runs great with the 200st. I am actually very impressed with this little welder. The only thing I have found was having to hold a very tight gap with the p rods. I think shield arc commented on this also. But that is my only small issue with this machine. It runs lowhyd better than a lot of machines costing 5x of what it does. CJ

Actually it was the older version PowerArc 200 that you had to hold such a close arc length when running 6010. The PowerArc 200ST welds just like any other welder when running 6010. I found that ESAB's Sureweld 10P-Plus 6010 runs the best.

I'll have to try some new stuff then, because I was experiencing the arc snuffing out. CJ
