do you have a JD 320 330 40 420 430 435 or 1010?

If you have one of the tractor models listed in the thread title, I would like to know a critical dimension.

Specifically, what is the width between the forks at the lower end of the right side 3-point lift assembly where it fits over the lift arm?

I believe this unit may work on my brand new JD 3039R. It is the right length fully closed (~17.5"), and it has the right hole sizes on either end (5/8"). But it is critical that it has an inch where it fits over the lift arm and the lower pin connects it to the lift.

There are folks that sell these parts on the net, but they don't seem to want to measure this distance for me so I can determine if it will work.

I have a JD-420C which doesn't help much. It doesn't even have a 3-pt lift or PTO. It's a crawler. That's my excuse. :confused3:

A pic here to show the yoke item 19 (this is the 420 3ph from jdparts) as it fits the lift arm.
Are you concerned that your 3039r lift arms are thicker than the older lift arms?
What is the thickness of your 3039r arms?

Yes, the 3039 yoke is almost exactly 1" wide and the arm effectively fills the entire space minus a little bit for paint and play.

Only from memory, but don't think the thickness of the 420 arms was 1" thick.. not sure about the width where that yoke pins at the arm (if width is your main concern).

Your Deere dealer in Story City may know who in their territory has the tractors on your list, that you can visit. I could ask my BIL who farmed north of SC near the retreat, but he moved to NH last year or so.

The diagram did not make me hopeful of the fit. Photos of the part sort of looked promising, but that diagram certainly doesn't.

Before I'd spend that kind of money, I'd look seriously at an hyd. top and tilt setup.. I have the hyd. top link, and wouldn't want to be without it.
Very seldom need to change the side lift link.
You must have plans for needing a better adjustable side link. When I had the crank style on my 420, it would only crank when there was no load on it. The one I have on my 4300 is as good or even better in my opinion. Still had to get off the tractor to adjust.
I didn't look to see what you have on yours.

I have needed to change the side link many times in a single snow removal event. With the old 8n I just reached over and did it. No problem. The top link, almost never. Hydro would be much more expensive.

To change the level on the 3039, I would have to get off and then do a lot of hand work to adjust. It is not a good system for that at all.
