my tractor started blowing oil into the breather today, when i shut it down it had started to smoke and there was oil dripping from under the pto clutch and air filter had some oil in it.the engine never lost any power before i shut it down,i topped the oil off about 6 ounces to fill mark and drove it about 300 feet to the barn it was still smoking from the oil on the muffler. It has a briggs 14 hp. model #294447 type#0445-01,im hoping it didnt hurt it,i got good compression on the test, but i havent checked the breather yet,im wondering if anybody else has ran into this problem?im thinking breather or head gaskets, compression was good but the extra oil in the cylynders might have gave a false reading.ill try a leak down test tommorrow.thank you

Joe welcome to the forum. No sweat that can happen if the oil is the least bit over filled...esp if you lower the RPM's quickly. In the past when that happened to me I R/R the air filter and clean the pre-filter with gas. Wipe down what oil you can see and you should be good to go.

I always keep extra filters on hand and sometimes would clean an oil soaked filter out with gas and let it dry out for a few days and stick it back in the box for future use.
