Cub Cadet 7275 conversion to Case IH 1140
Hi,
I am totally new to this, but I have been looking at a lot of threads before I purchased my new tractor. I got really lucky and found a Cub Cadet 7275 posted on Craigslist for $6,000 with a 72" Woods 660 mower included. It had been sitting in a barn for 3 years with 577 hours on it. I grew up mowing on a cub cadet, but I always hated the color and I never got over the breakup between them and Case IH. The one thing I loved about this tractor was it started out in the early 90's as a Case IH 1140. So I decided to give mine a makeover. Here are some pictures of the transformation. I am still waiting on the decals. It is going to get a very modern Case IH look before I am done.

Enjoy!

Great looking tractor! I recently picked up a Case IH 1130 I like these mitsubishi tractors. I really want a front end loader for mine.

Where did you get the paint?

I would love to get a loader too. It is the perfect size tractor for a loader. Any ideas what the case IH loader number was for this tractor? I actually just used good old fashion Rust O leam from Wal Mart for the project. I have heard great things on that paint, and after a trial between TSC red and Rust O leam, it was the winner. Went on real easy and looks great.

The original loader for the 1130 & 1140 was a Case IH L108 the 1120 used the Case IH L106. There are several manufactures still making loaders and mounts to fit this series of tractor. Woods, Koyker, and kelley are three that I know of.

American Boy, I was going through some of the boxes of brochures that I have accumulated over the past 30 years and came across the one for IH 1140. Its in great shape and yours if you are interested. No charge. Just willing to do my part to promote the sport of tractor restoring/collecting.

When IH came out with the red Cub Cadets in the late 1970s I was upset. I grew up with the yellow ones. But over time I really got to like the red. I bought a 982 Cadet in 1981. So I too am a fan of the IH red.

Let me know if you would like the brochure.
Terry,

Thanks Terry,
I guess I grew up in the generation of the 782 and 982. So I like mine red. Sure would like the brochure. I was actually going to snag one off ebay.

Here is the finished product. A little more modern version of the 1140. It is an awesome tractor!

If you want to get the decals off, you need to buy yourself a new tool. I don't know what they call the tool, but it has a flat blade that just pulsates. It basically roled the old decal off like butter. It is a must if you plan on repainting!
