I have one of each listed for sale near me. The Patu is an older unit and the Wallenstein is about a year old. The Wally is $600 more. Does anyone have experience with both units? Is the Wally worth the extra money?

Sorry, no experience with the Patu.
I am very satisfied with my Bx 42. I'm running it on a 30 hp CUT and it's able to chip anything I've put through it. The salesman told me it would almost feed itself. He wasn't lying. :)

Hi,

I've always wanted to know if the Bx42 would do a good job making mulch out of the bark that sloughs off of really seasoned blocks of firewood when you split them?

I went with the BX42. The main reason being the feed chute is angled to aid in the self feeding. The Patu DC40 had a horizontal chute and you would have to push everything in. I ran the BX42 for about 8-10 hrs so far and I am very pleased. I have 21 PTO HP and it runs the unit well and handles up to the 4 inch capacity without skipping a beat.
