No! the byproduct re water is useless for anything except as a source of pollution - even gets heavy metals into what they grow when they use it for irrigation like they do in CA. (Sell it to the Saudis!?) Tasty looking fracking water isn't it! - <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=469939"/> I like spring water <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=469941"/> , or the water from our 64' well - cold and delicious.

Modern fracking doesn't use water at all... You need to get informed... Fracking has not contaminated 1, not 1, water well in the country. If you know of one speak up, when the senate hearing asked for environmentalist to bring evidence no one produce any.... HS

I know of many examples. Typically the lease holder pays for water storage on the land owners property as compensation. It would never be public knowledge.

They do exactly the same thing in Saudi. It's amazing to be driving through the desert and come across these huge circular plots of land. They also have some of the worlds biggest dairy operations that all require huge amounts of ground water to sustain. In fact they had almost completely depleted their fresh water aquifers when I was there. Must be why they are in the southern US.

Not sure how much you travel or looked out a window on a plane flight, but that type of irrigation has been common in the west for over 100 years. Has nothing to do with Saudi's buying up farmland. HS

Saudis are just being sensible- they used up their aquifers, now they will use up ours. Local residents and farmers are concerned that things will dry up and that they will be left without water. The saudis will move on- but local people? What will they do....pray for rain!

I struggle imagining Saudis irrigating Alfalfa here in the U.S. so they can harvest it and ship it to Saudi Arabia.......

I struggle imagining Saudis irrigating Alfalfa here in the U.S. so they can harvest it and ship it to Saudi Arabia....... But what do I know.....

I'm hoping in January they all have to leave. HS
